As always, it was a good day at Whippingham. I chose to do cooking, crochet and card making. I started with a demonstration of cooking by Pete and Linda Masters of Rookley, who showed us how to make an extremely rich chocolate cake enhanced by marmalade which gave it the classic chocolate and orange flavour. They next showed us their version of sausage rolls, made with frankfurters (delicious) and lastly they showed us, and we made with puff pastry, bacon and cheese twists. By the time we had sampled all this, we hardly needed lunch. Next, the crochet session was very useful, and then after lunch, we had a good afternoon with Sylvia leading an excellent card making session. There was also a paper folding class which I didn’t do, but which looked interesting.
When all the results of our activities were put on show at the end of the afternoon, it was obvious that we had had a thoroughly productive and enjoyable day. I really recommend these taster days at Whippingham.
