The October meeting of the Music Group was again few in numbers due to health problems, but the evening was filled with glorious music, interspersed with refreshments and chat and laughter.
Rosalind’s choices of music were the “Adagio” from Mozart’s Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra, with Harold Wright clarinet with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and “The Sea and Sinbad’s Ship” from Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov, played by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Vladimir Valek.
Ann chose “The Three Elizabeths Suite” by Eric Coates, and Kiri Te Kanawa singing “On Wings of Song” by Mendelssohn and “Panis Angelicus” by Cesar Franck.
Dorothy chose “A Cantata for St.Luke” and “Gloria – I’ll make music” from Karl Jenkins Motets, sung by The Camarata Chamber Choir, and “Dance Preludes” by Lutoslawski, with Richard Saxel, pianist, and Angus Meryon on clarinet.
Margaret’s choices were “Mazurka” in B flat major and “Waltz in A major” by Chopin, pianist Allan Schiller, and Wagner’s Prelude to Act 1 of “Die Meistersinger“, with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Klaus Tennstedt.
