Easter Tea

The fates were kind to the ladies of Creekside who enjoyed sunshine and the warmest day of the year so far for their Easter Tea on 6 April.

The tables in the Methodist Church Hall were a picture of spring decked out in green and white with yellow flowers and accessories.

30 members were impressed as cake stands were placed on the tables with a selection of elegant finger sandwiches, scones (plus cream and jam) and beautiful Easter themed cakes worthy of a grand hotel! There were also individual dainty raspberry topped trifles and Easter biscuits. The tea and conversation flowed whilst members puzzled over Pauline’s quiz on the twin themes of Easter and members’ surnames.

Once tea was over it was time for the Easter egg hunt. Teams were given a sheet of clues and then it was a mad dash round the building to be first to collect up the hidden tokens. Never let it be said there is any lack of competitive spirit amongst Creekside ladies!

The final fun of the afternoon was the Easter bonnet parade with some rather dodgy singing of the traditional ditty. Some were pretty, some were funny and some are best not mentioned. The winner, chosen by new member Sue Moore, was Sylvia Burrows who got the Easter egg. The losers could just about cope with their disappointment.

Thanks to Pauline for the quiz and the egg hunt, to Ann and the committee who provided the fantastic food and to everyone who helped on the day. Also, thanks to the Lakeside Hotel for the loan of their cakes stands.
